Alpaca or cashmere – which material is more suitable for coats?
Cashmere is known for its immediate softness, but shows signs of wear more quickly with regular use. Alpaca, especially baby alpaca, offers comparable fineness with greater durability and better temperature regulation. For coats that will be worn for years, alpaca is often the more sustainable choice.
Why are alpaca coats considered high-quality luxury outerwear?
Alpaca is among the finest natural fibers in fashion. The fiber combines softness, warmth, and texture in a way that is particularly valued in outerwear. In high-quality coats, alpaca stands for durability, comfort, and long-lasting value.
For whom is a baby alpaca coat particularly suitable?
For people who value softness, comfort, and durability. Baby alpaca is particularly suitable for high-quality coats that are worn regularly and should remain pleasant against the skin.
What is the difference between an alpaca and a baby alpaca?
Alpaca refers to the natural fiber in general. Baby alpaca describes a particularly fine fiber quality, not the age of the animal. These fibers are softer, more uniform, and feel more pleasant against the skin than standard alpaca.

Are baby alpacas prone to pilling?
Baby alpaca is naturally smoother than many wool fibers and therefore less prone to pilling . As with all high-quality natural materials, minimal bobbles may form due to friction, but these are easily removed.
Why is alpaca combined with wool?
Pure alpaca is very soft, but can feel too stretchy depending on the intended use. The combination of baby alpaca and virgin wool combines comfort with shape retention. This allows the coat to maintain its clean silhouette and retain its shape even with regular wear.
